Using the latest in space qualified hardware, including on-board processing (OBP), routing and signal regeneration, and steerable spot beams, allows us to provide the coverage our customers require, when and where they require it, with a significant edge in terms of network flexibility, link budget and security.

OBP allows true 'mesh' networking, without the need for a third-party gateway, increasing security and allowing our customers the option of providing their own network management system (NMS). A one-hop solution also reduces latency compared to traditional solutions, giving true 'real-time' information delivery. Regeneration gives a significant link budget advantage, allowing operation in physically or electronically noisy and/or hostile environments, and additional content security. Steerable Spot Beams allow movable physical targeting of our coverage.

In synergy, these features provide a significantly better link budget, allowing you to provide much greater sustained throughput to your mobile terminals, terminals that can be smaller, and with a lower profile, than today's standards – with higher data rates. Open Standards Advantage

OverHorizon™ has adopted the DVB-RCS open network standard for operations. Basing our system on DVB-RCS brings the advantages of multiple terminal suppliers and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) equipment. Alongside the compatibility and pricing advantages that arise from this, our open standards approach enables our systems to have a greater degree of interoperability with legacy equipment and networks. Unlike most current solutions, your terminals are portable, we do not bind you to one terminal manufacturers proprietary approach, equipment, spare parts or service availability. Finally, using standard networking interfaces, our terminal standards mean that we interface with the rest of your equipment through simple LAN connections, fully compatible with a vast range of equipment, including crypto, to keep your content secure even when your transmission channel is unrestricted.
