The Role, Objectives and Responsibilities
As a Communication Systems Engineer at Ovzon, you will be involved in planning, designing, developing and testing diverse satellite communications systems, including satellite modems and terminals, on-board processing and network management. You will work with products developed in-house and with our partners to develop new products adapted to Ovzon’s requirements.
The person we are looking for has a background in digital communications and RF systems within Satcom and/or telecom. You have experience of working in a lab environment with typical communication hardware and software tools as well as with theoretical system modelling, link budgets and performance analysis. You are capable of working independently, planning and prioritizing between tasks to meet goals and deadlines.
You will work in a dedicated, cross-functional team at Ovzon’s office in Solna, Sweden and report to software team leader. The position also includes travel to suppliers and partners as well as fieldwork such as terminal and network testing.
The role involves
- Communication systems engineering from RF to digital signal processing
- Communication systems development and test
- System/Product/Service validation and verification
- Review technical design documentation (test procedures and reports, interface control documents, etc.)
- Specification development and requirement definitions
Skills and Qualifications
Hands-on experience from wireless communication systems (5+ years) with a University degree (MSc or equivalent) in electrical engineering, physics or similar. Experience with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.), channel coding, Linux environment and scripting languages such as Python or Ruby is expected. Experience from IP networks and DVB standards for satellite communication networks is an advantage.
